New Chip for 5G Technology by Qualcomm.
5G technology is the upcoming technology. Now we are using 4G and the next for 5G we are waiting for.
As day by day uses of the Internet is increasing and the uses of the Internet in smartphones is increasing more than other devices. So to use 5G on smartphones, there are new researches are taking place day by day.
We all know Qualcomm, the company that makes chips for smartphones. Recently there is a new chip has been made for the smartphones and the chip is for the upcoming 5G technology.
Qualcomm has been declared the new RF module for the smartphones and other devices. The name of that chip is QTM052. It is a mmWave antenna module for the 5G devices.
The QTM052 antenna module is used to deliver a fast network experiences with the Snapdragon X50 modem. The new X50 modem is designed to compact with the 5G smartphones or the upcoming 5G devices.
QTM052 is designed to work with Snapdragon X50 modem and it can support up to 24GHz frequency and higher than this. Now in 4G, we are using 600MHz to 5.4GHz frequencies.
This announcement is the first announcement for the 5G module. It is a sub-6 GHz RF module for the 5G devices.
The new QTM052 is mmWave antenna module and this chip is designed for dense 5G urban areas. The QPM56xx RF antenna family is designed for the smartphones. In the QPM56xx series QPM5650, QPM5651, QDM5650, QDM5652 modules are designed for the smartphones and mobile devices with the Snapdragon X50 modem. The Snapdragon X50 modem supports the sub-6 GHz RF bands.
The new QDM5650 and QDM5652 are designed to support the MIMO technology. This QPM56xx series chip supports 6 MIMO ( 3.3-4.2 GHz )n77, ( 3.3-3.8 GHz )n78, ( 4.4-5.0 GHz )n79 subbands.
The speed we will feel with the 5G technology is up to 5Gbps. The speed of 4G, we are using a mobile device is around 70Mbps. With the new 5G technology we will feel the speed 5x faster than 4G.
The 5G technology is the next coming cellular technology and with this, we will feel the speed by wirelessly. We can download a full TV season within seconds.
The mmWave uses for 5G have some demerits. The signal can be transmitted for a short distance. It is bouncing through hard surfaces and getting problems through trees.
The 600MHz technology is using now has not this problems. But it is not as fast as mmWaves.
So this a challenge for researchers to build a chip without these problems, also can travel longer and can be small enough to fit inside the smartphones.
We will able to see this 5G module in half of 2019. This will come to feel the first touch of 5G technology to us by smartphones.
The QTM052 mmWave and QPM50xx series will be available for customers.
